After a pause in the tournament due to the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, Georgetown emerged as the winning team in the 2021 tournament unseating Villanova as the consecutive three-time champion.

Before its realignment, Big East rivalries were frequent and exciting dramas that unfolded on the court. While many fans mourned the teams lost in the reshuffling, there are still many great rivalries worth watching in the Big East.

The rivalry between Seton Hall and St. Johns is one of the most notable in the conference. Georgetown versus Syracuse (which is now in the ACC) was the Big East’s biggest rivalry before the big shake-up.

The Big East is home to many basketball teams with great records, but several teams are the conference’s reigning champions.
